WELCOME TO THE

1st Annual Southern Cal's

Crash & Bash

Where:    Calico Ghost Town….10 miles out of Barstow, CA.

When:    April 6th through April 9, 2006

This event is open to all members and Jeepster friends, and we encourage you, to bring your Jeeping buddies along for the fun. Hey we need to pick on vehicles beside our own.

Calico Campground Information and reservations:

With a lot of persuasion, we have obtained, reserved, a block of 20 dry camp sites for our event. These are sites 77 through 96 in campground “2”. From what I was told, site 77 has a tree and is a little larger then the rest and if it’s ok with you, lets use it as a “main site”…may be RRich can reserve it. Party at site 77!!! If Rich gets out of hand, we can tie him to the tree, LOL

All sites have fire pits and the restrooms and showers are near by.

PEOPLE coming in with RVs need to make reservations ASAP!, for campground “2”. These are full hook up sites but they're not included in the reserved dry camp sites…sorry, I was not able to acquire full hook up sites.

Here is the URL for the campground map: http://www.calicotown.com/campsites/2/

If you want to make reservations, here’s the scoop:

Call 1-760-254-2122
Say you need to make reservations for campground “2” and that you are with the American Jeepster Club and sites 77– 96 have been reserved for American Jeepster Club members and guests. If need be, ask for DEBBIE.

Price is $18.00 for the first night, up to 6 people per site, and than $3.00 per person for additional nights.

If you want to camp within the reserved block,
YOU MUST MAKE YOUR RESERVATIONS BY FEBRUARY 13th!

RRICH has this to say about Calico:

Calico area has lots of trails as I remember. From "easy" to "rough" to difficult - even to "I wonder if he lived?" The tough parts have ways around, not always a short bypass, sometimes a loop. You can make it as hard as you want. As I remember there's always several ways to an area - easy and hard. After all, both hard core crawlers and Hummers play here. If a Hummer can make it, your Ford Fiesta can too.

4 Wheel Drive Magazine just had an article on the Calico area - Feb 2006 issue. You can see some of the rougher spots.

Tom's first pic I think that's at the beginning of Odessa? Looks like a step up where a friend tried - we had to secure him with a winch 1/2 way up to do a Hi-Lift Handle repair on his tie rod. He bent it like a pretzel.

How 'bout an easy(er) run the first day, get back mid afternoon, then a walk through the ghost town? The women love it.
That night around the campfire lies, tall tales, bragging about how good our rigs are.
Next day a good run - so the braggars can prove it - or bust.
If we have too many rigs we can break the runs up - 8 to 12 is a good group. "Easy" and "I wanna break something."

Peggy Sue's is just down the road - a 50's roadside cafe theme - food's not bad.

For those that want to stay a few days longer - about 40 miles farther out is Afton Canyon - a very pretty place.
Death Valley is not all that far away either.
And of course -- Vegas.

Be there!
