Welcome to the American Jeepster Club's

Jeepster Model and Year Indentification Page.

This page is to assist you in determining what kind or year of Jeepster you own or are planning to purchase. It is also meant to help you notice the difference between a "Jeepster", a "Jeepster Commando" and a "Commando". There is a difference in the models. Most differences are just at the front clip, and many parts between the years and models are interchangeable, such as doors, windows, body, tailgate, seats, electronics, some drive-train, etc...

In the "Jeepster" community, all models are be generically referred as a "Jeepster", but not all models should be referred to as a "Commando". Earlier Jeepsters are also referred to CJ-Style Jeepsters, while Commandos are lovingly referred to as "Bullnoses". There is also a difference between a true factory manual or power Jeepster Convertible and what is commonly referred to as a Soft Top, such as an aftermarket "Bestop" or "Kayline" top installed on a Jeepster. The "Jeepster Convertible" does not have "Commando" badges on the hood. It has a rear fiberglass deck covering the tailgate, which the fabric top meets at, and the tailgate normally does not lower. The "Jeepster Commando (Austre) Convertible" has no rear deck, has a working tailgate and the fabric top attaches to the top of the tailgate.
